Born 1980 in Hangzhou. Attended HKUST where professor Li Zexiang noticed his talent. Built DJI prototypes in his dorm room. Released Phantom in 2013, igniting the global drone revolution. DJI dominates ~70-80% of the global drone market. In Dec 2025 the FCC added DJI to its Covered List, effectively blocking new-product sales in the US — DJI warned of ~$1.5B in 2026 US revenue at risk across 14 existing and 25 new products; weeks later Beijing banned consumer drone sales from May 1 2026, squeezing the world's largest drone maker from both sides. Net worth ~$5B.
